This person will provide strategic tax planning advice to clients, identify opportunities for tax savings, and address potential risks. Additionally, they will mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and contribute to the development of efficient tax processes within the firm.

Requirements

  •  BA/BS in Accounting (required)
  •  2+ years income tax compliance and accounting experience
  •  Organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  •  Strong attention to detail
  •  CPA, Enrolled Agent, or working toward obtaining either license
  •  Advanced MS Excel skills
  •  Possess a basic understanding of book/tax differences
  •  Ability to analyze current processes, identify issues, and recommend solutions

Responsibilities

  • Provide staff level support in corporate, partnership, and individual tax compliance, specifically in the preparation and review of federal and state income returns, with clear understanding of the underlying numbers and mechanics of the tax return
  • Ensure that client companies comply with periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Provide input regarding effects of business activities on taxes, on strategies for minimizing tax liability, and opportunities to better utilize tax technology
  • Prepare and review numerous tax vouchers, coordinate checks and certified mailings for tax estimates and extensions
  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial and tax accounts, records, and reports
  • Compute taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations
  • Collaborate with partners as appropriate in research, development and analysis of tax planning opportunities, research and develop appropriate timely responses to IRS and Department of Revenue information data requests
  • Assist in the development of sound audit defense strategies
  • Research state tax incentive opportunities, prepare and review necessary forms / documentation to be included in annual state income tax returns
  • Prepare and review depreciation schedules including proper classification of assets
  • Prepare, review, and organize workpapers for client files
  • Perform other essential duties as needed
